Slagr

Slagr is the old Norse expression for the word ’tune’ or ’melody’. The word is derived from the verb slá (hit) with the connotation hit to create tones (pluck), and has originally been used for tunes played on plucked instruments.

The band Slagr makes and performs contemporary nordic folk music - or ambient chamber folk - for hardanger fiddle, cello and vibraphone/tuned glasses. Slagr is Anne Hytta, Katrine Schiøtt and Amund Sjølie Sveen. Since 2003, Slagr has released 6 studio albums. Short Stories (2014) received a Norwegian Grammy (Spellemannpris).
